Manifesto
Typing is muscle memory from a different century. Your fingers are slower than your tongue. Your tongue is slower than your brain. Bellow closes that gap.
Other voice tools send your words to a server, log them, transcribe them in some datacenter, and send the text back. We don't. Bellow runs on your Mac. Your microphone, your Neural Engine, your text. The network doesn't enter the picture.
Bellow it out.
How it works
Hold a key
Fn, Right ⌘, Right ⌥ — whatever your keyboard sends reliably. One key, your choice.
Talk
A floating overlay shows Bo listening. The waveform pulses with your voice in real time.
Release
Your speech is transcribed locally on your Apple Silicon. The text pastes into the focused app, sub-second.
What's inside
On-device AI, bundled
A state-of-the-art speech model, bundled with the app. Never hits the network. Works in airplane mode.
Five trigger options
Fn, left/right ⌘, left/right ⌥ — pick the key your keyboard sends most reliably. Plus a backup hotkey that always works.
Encrypted history
Every transcription stored on this Mac, AES-GCM encrypted with a Keychain-bound key. Searchable, wipeable, never synced.
Per-mic selection
Built-in, USB interface, AirPods — pick the input device once and Bellow remembers. Even handles channel-0 properly on multi-channel rigs.
Confidential mode
Flip a single toggle to stop history from being written at all. For lawyers, doctors, journalists — paste-and-forget.
Two overlay styles
Full card with live transcript and waveform, or a compact pill capsule. Same colors, your choice of presence.

FAQ
Does my voice go to a server?
No. Recording, transcription, pasting — all on your Mac. Airplane-mode the laptop and Bellow still works.
What's the system requirement?
macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later, Apple Silicon (M1 / M2 / M3 / M4). The speech model needs a real Neural Engine.
How big is the install?
About 1.5 GB — most of which is the bundled speech model. Once installed, no further downloads. The DMG is fully notarized by Apple.
Why a one-time purchase?
Because your voice tool shouldn't hold your data hostage behind a subscription. Pay $49 once, get every update forever. Bellow runs on your Mac — there's no recurring server cost to justify a monthly fee.
Does it work in any app?
Yes. It synthesizes a ⌘V into whatever has keyboard focus — Mail, Slack, Notes, browsers, code editors, anything.
Will it transcribe my accent?
The bundled speech model is multilingual and handles most accents better than any cloud dictation. It gets better the more you use it.
What's "early access"?
Bellow is in free public preview. Everything works — no feature limits, no usage caps, no card. When we ship 1.0 with paid licensing ($49 lifetime), every install from this preview gets the full license for free. We record your install date locally; nothing to redeem, nothing to email.
Why's it free right now?
Because the licensing and trial enforcement code isn't built yet — it'll land in the next update. Rather than gate a beta behind a paywall we can't enforce, we'd rather give it to early adopters and earn the goodwill. You're our first thousand users; we'd like you to stick around.
Why isn't Bellow on the Mac App Store?
Push-to-talk requires a system-wide event tap, which sandboxed Mac App Store apps can't install. Same reason Wispr Flow, Superwhisper, Raycast, and Alfred all distribute outside the App Store. You download Bellow direct from us.
